On 28.04.2022. experts from WaterAct and Habitat experts met in field seminar that was organized in Bānūžu spring area where demonstrations on how to recognize ecosystems dependant from groundwaters were made. Seminar was attended by biotope experts and hydrologists from Estonia and Latvia.
Janis Bikse from University of Latvia and Jaanus Terasmaa from Tallin University demonstrated how to take measurements using spring monitoring guidelines that were developed within the project: how to measure temperature, pH, electrical conductivity and also water flow rate and taste. Professor from Tallin University showed how to register a new spring and put all observed information into spring monitoring database allikad.info or avoti.info. During field visit two new springs were found and registered.
Liga Strazdina from Nature Conservation agency demonstrated how to recognize groundwater dependant ecosystems - how to how to identify plant species that are specific to a particular ecosystem.
